Randy Lee Toppenberg, the son of Elmar and Carolyn (Smith) Toppenberg, was born November 16, 1954, in Ames, Iowa.
He enjoyed bowling and participated in Special Olympics yearly. He was an avid car lover, enjoyed spending time going to drag races and looking at vintage cars. He was a very outgoing person and made a friend with each and every person he met. Randy was a member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. He spent 19 years at the Eagle Grove Group Home and was employed by Krysilis.
Randy passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at Wright Medical Center in Clarion, at the age of 57 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jackie Lee.
Survivors include his step-mother, Caroline Toppenberg and nine siblings: Ron Toppenerg of Newton, Judy Harrison of Camp Verde, AZ, Jerry Dahl of Clinton, Jan Stivers of Tucson, AZ, Stanly Kay Chaloupka of Loveland, CO, Christine Dahl of Ames, Cynthia Barton of Ames, Debbie Fry of Ames and Nick Dahl of Memphis, TN
Visitation will be Sat. Dec. 10, 10:30 to 11:30 am at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with a prayer service at 11:30 led by Pastor Jason Cooper. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery at 3pm on Saturday.
The family would like memorial contributions be made to Opportunity Village PO Box 622 Clear Lake, IA 50548.
