Lila Adeline Roseland, the daughter of Lars and Agnes (Andersen) Anderson, was born September 17, 1914, in Clarion, Iowa. She attended Lake Township country grade school and schools in Clarion.
On November 27, 1938, Lila was united in marriage with Arthur John Roseland. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove.
Lila was a longtime member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove and past member of the Garden Club and Senior Citizens Club. She worked for 17 years in the Eagle Grove School cafeterias. Her hobbies included flowers, fishing, baking, bingo, traveling, reading and crafts. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members.
Lila passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 97 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Arthur, Albert and Alfred Anderson; three sisters, Esther Roseland, Margaret Trotter and Marie Knight and son-in-law, James Bethell.
Survivors include her daughters, Joanne Bethell of Waite Park, MN and Rogene Watson and husband Michael of Rochester, MN; son, Dennis Roseland and wife Janet of Clearwater, FL and Decorah; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; sister, Lillian Stevenson of Clarion and sister-in-law, Virginia Anderson of Eagle Grove.
Lila loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Jason Cooper officiating. Visitation is Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.
Memorials will be left to the discretion of the family.
