Eagle Grove – Dale V. Smith

Dale Verl Smith, the son of Ralph and Ira (Carmichael) Smith, was born February 1, 1926, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth.

Dale served in the United States Navy during W. W. II – 1943 to 1947.

Dale married Grace M. Staley on August 16, 1953 and made their home in Eagle Grove and had four children. The couple later divorced.

Dale worked at McCullough's in Webster City for many years and also painted houses. After his retirement he loved to work on lawn mowers and watch Westerns!

Dale will be remembered for his sense of humor, great smile, twinkle in his eyes and being a friend to many.

Dale passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home, at the age of 86 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: June Moss, Bernice Lawson, Bernette Smith, Lloyd Smith, Earl Smith, Gerald "Bud" Smith, Ralph Jr. "Cap" Smith, Kenny Smith, Donald Smith and Richard Smith and an infant son, Allen Eugene Smith.

Survivors include his children: Debra Withers of Eagle Grove, Karen Traeger and husband Keith of Eagle Grove and Michael Smith of Eagle Grove; eleven grandchildren: Rhonda, Rodney, Ryan, Sarah, Chad, Nathan, Adam, Nick, Mikki, Gracie and Faith; 15 great-grandchildren: Emily, Alyssa, Hannah, Levi, Miranda, Parker, Jakayli, Addison, Issac, Kelsey, Taylor, Dwayne, Renee, Anna and Eli and a brother, John Smith of Bloomington, IL.
