Elinor Meribeh (Nelson) Askvig, the daughter of Oscar and Grace (Younglove) Nelson, was born on December 23, 1928, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1946.

On January 3, 1948, Elinor was united in marriage with Harry L. Askvig in Sioux Falls, SD. They had three children, Lyle, Randy and Merri and made their home in Goldfield, Eagle Grove and moved to Webster City in 1970.

Elinor worked for Wilson Packing Plant, Pagel Window and Webster City Products.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Elinor enjoyed sewing, upholstering, fishing, shooting pool and slot machines!

Elinor passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018, at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City, at the age of 89 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Lyle; husband, Harry; sisters, Maxine Warner and Marge Sheets and brother, Morris Nelson.

Survivors include her son, Randy Askvig and Jayne Kuhn of Eagle Grove; daughter, Merri Ragazzo and husband Mario of Altoona; ten grandchildren: Jerrit Askvig, Courtney Askvig, Justin Askvig, Joe Askvig, Jennifer Askvig, Jamie Askvig, Tawnya Griffin, Chad Christian, JoAnna Demaria and Derrik Ragazzo; 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Reverends Don and Cindy Morrison officiating. Visitation is Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Memorials will be left to the discretion of the family.
